The House of Ukraine has its own small cottage in the heart of Balboa Park home of the World-Famous San Diego Zoo. This cottage, furnished and manned by members of our organization, presents exhibits about our culture, history and traditions. All work is done by unpaid volunteers. The cottage is open on Sundays from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The House of Ukraine participates in the annual events of the House of Pacific Relations, such as: the Ethnic Food fair held on Memorial Sunday where Ukrainian ethnic food such as kovbasa, varenyky, holobtsi, kapusta and borsch are featured; the Lawn Program usually held on Labor Day Sunday featuring Ukrainian music, colorful dancers and ethnic food; December Nights (Christmas on the Prado) held on the first Friday and Saturday evenings of December featuring our Svyatij Mykolai (St. Nicholas) Ukrainian Christmas display along with Christmas music and ethnic food.

The House of Ukraine also holds events of its own, most notably the Ukrainian Festival. This fun-filled annual event is held the same weekend as the Lawn Program. It features a BBQ, a wine tour, a concert featuring Ukrainian dancers and finally, a Zabava (Dinner/Dance) to close the celebration!

We also have a Ukrainian Easter display in the month of Easter featuring Ukrainian Easter baskets and pysanky (Easter eggs), along with pysanky workshops.
